J. Cole's Title Track 'KOD' Breaks Spotify Opening Day Record
 J. Cole shocked the rap world earlier this week when he announced his new album KODwas dropping on Friday. Many fans praised the album upon its release as a breath of fresh air for a genre that has been labeled as “dumbed down” and “repetitive” in recent years. Cole spends much of the album addressing this new generation of rappers and fans seem to be responding to it.

The title track “KOD” has reportedly broken Taylor Swift’s U.S. Spotify record for the biggest opening day release on the popular streaming platform. Cole’s latest effort got over 4.2 million streams the day of its release, surpassing Swift’s 3.8 million streams of her 2017 album “Look What You Made Me Do.”

The first single off the album, “ATM,” debuted Friday along with a video. It was also featured heavily during ESPN’s NBA Playoffs coverage. It’s an impressive number considering that the album was released just four days after it was announced.

Drake still holds the record for the most U.S. Spotify streams for a single in a day with “God’s Plan,” which garnered 4.3 million streams.
