Off-Duty Cop Shoots and Kills Mentally Challenged Man After Alleged Assault
Kenneth French, 32, was killed by an off-duty police officer after an alleged attack at a local Costco. According to the officer, French attacked him inside the store without provocation. The officer shot and killed French and wounded his two family members. The Corona Police Department issued a statement claiming that things escalated from an argument, however, French’s cousin Rick Shureih came forward on Sunday revealing that Kenneth was nonverbal and intellectually challenged.
Shureih said during a phone interview on Sunday, that his cousin “was a gentle giant … He’s never been violent in the past. He’s always been very cooperative and kept to himself.” Police have yet to name the officer involved though he has been released from the hospital to tend to minor injuries.
