Comedy icon Bill Cosby stands to face what may be the final years of his life behind bars after he was found guilty of three counts of aggravated incident assault in his retrial of the Andrea Constand case, on Thursday, April 26.
The verdict came in from the jury after 14 hours of deliberation that spanned two days and was complicated in its final hours over the group coming to a consensus on how to define consent. In the end, it turns out that they determined that the 80-year-old entertainer had not acquired permission on the night that he allegedly slipped the former Temple University employee three pills while convening in his Philadelphia home in 2004.
Constant has long alleged that she fell unconscious and woke up to find Cosby penetrating her vagina with his fingers on the date in question. Her story was consistent with that of dozens who have come forward with similar accusations but were unable to pursue justice due to the statute of limitations on their claims. Over the two weeks spanning the trial, Cosby has been forced to come face to face with five women who’ve taken the stand to testify against him.
Cosby can be looking at a 10-year sentence over the conviction.
