The exciting lineup that the “Soul Train Awards” have recently released has fans anxious to tune in. With special moments and appearances from some of the biggest stars in R&B and Gospel, the Apollo Theater is the only logical venue for this commemorative event to take place. This year, the award show will honor three-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Maxwell with the “Legend Award” and multi-platinum Ashanti with the “Lady of Soul” award.
“Soul Music is a movement, and we are incredibly proud to give it a platform and produce a performance line-up that will exemplify the best of the genre and reach generations of music lovers across the globe. We could not be more thrilled for these exceptional artists to hit the stage in celebration of fifty years of Soul Train!” – Connie Orlando, EVP, Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy
Since its conception by the Legend herself Erykah Badu, the cypher has become one of the major highlights of the award show. This year D-Nice, Music Soulchild, Jac Rossm Koryn Hawthorne, Elle Varner and Tone Smith take on the challenge. The late R&B great, Aaliyah’s “Rock The Boat” will be instrumental for the cypher.
Your favorite best-friend duo Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold will once again host this star-studded night bringing their energy and hilarious anecdotes!
