(FreshAsFrankie) After collaborating on a few pairs of Reebok Classics, Kendrick Lamar announced a switch from the brand to his partnership with Nike in the late summer of this year. In that time between wearing Vans and Nike’s Cortez silhouette, two shoes that are staples in fashion culture of LA, K. Dot has finally given fans a first look at his collaboration with the Nike. Of course, it would be a blood-red Cortez the rapper donned.
“DON’T TRIP. CORTEZ KENNY,” the rapper captioned the photo. Kendrick shared the preview of the show from backstage at LA’s Staples Center where he was in attendance for Kobe Bryant‘s jersey retirement ceremony. Kobe and Kendrick representing the greatness of the west coast recently did an interview together at Complex Con where they discuss their road to greatness.
Kendrick’s Nike Cortez houses a red, white, and black colorway with an accent ribbon on the top of the laces that reads “DON’T TRIP.” The Grammy-nominated is even throwing double entendres on his shoes. While representing the Black plight in his music, Kenny has also been sharing his appreciation for Chinese Culture and honors his alter ego, “Kung Fu Kenny”, the side of the shoe is embroidered with Chinese lettering.
