According to News reports, more than 50 police officers in New York City have tested positive for COVID-19 while the city is trying push and enforce social distancing to limit the spread of the virus.
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea spoke on the issue after being asked if police will go on 12-hour shifts. Shea responded “We certainly have planned for it and we plan daily for it, but we’re not there yet. We have seen a spike, specifically in the last three days, in sick reports.” CBS noted that as of Friday afternoon, 52 NYPD officers tested positive for the coronavirus, while others are waiting for their test results.
