Cardi B’s ‘Bodak Yellow’ Hits No. 1 On Billboard Hot 100

Cardi B's 'Bodak Yellow' Hits No. 1 On Billboard Hot 100
(FreshAsFrankie) Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” is the No. 1 song in America, reports Billboard. After climbing the charts over the last few weeks, Cardi’s hit has dethroned Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do” single for the top spot, marking her first solo No. 1 hit.

This makes Cardi only the second female rapper to top the chart without a featured artist, following Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998. She’s also the first female soloist to go No. 1 with a debut single unaccompanied by another artist since Meaghan Trainor‘s “All About That Bass” in 2014.

City Council Forwards Plan to Decriminalize Marijuana in Atlanta

City Council Forwards Plan to Decriminalize Marijuana in Atlanta
(FreshAsFrankie) Advocates for criminal justice reform as it concerns low-level drug offenders in the Georgia city were given reason to be hopeful earlier this week when the Atlanta City Council moved legislation that would ease penalties for marijuana possession forward for a vote.

Back in April, the decriminalization of marijuana was taken into consideration, but the prospects of cutting fines and jail time were punted without a vote, as it was determined that police, judges and school officials hadn’t been given the opportunity to provide their input on the matter. On Tuesday, September 26, Atlanta City Councilman and mayoral hopeful Kwanza Hall reintroduced the legislation and the Council’s Public Safety Panel granted an October 2 date for it to be voted on, and potentially signed into law by incumbent Mayor Kasim Reed.

Under Hall’s plan, the threat of six months in jail for possession of an ounce or less would be slashed, and the $1,000 fine locals currently face would be cut down to $75. The argument for decriminalization maintains that law enforcement resources would be better suited to address violent crimes and that it would ultimately ease a burden on taxpayers. Many also point to the racial disparity regarding who is impacted by the law, with Black citizens making up 92 percent of those arrested for possession.

Man Gets Locked Up While Trying To Reclaim His Cocaine

Man Gets Locked Up While Trying To Reclaim His Cocaine
(FreshAsFrankie) A Connecticut man got himself arrested when he went to a Waterbury precinct to retrieve a bag he left at the scene of an incident they responded to. As it turned out, after the bag was submitted to them, police say they discovered a “moderate amount” of crack cocaine inside of it. He is being held on $11,000 bond.

It was one thing that Davie McMillian, 23, made a poor choice by returning to reclaim the incriminating evidence, but he’d go one further by showing up for the bag with a woman who happened to have a no-contact protective order against him. Reports do not clarify what the incident was that originally drew the attention of law enforcement to the Shelton location where his bag was recovered. But the counts against him do not reflect that he was being dealt any infraction for what occurred prior to authorities coming into possession of the drug. He is facing faces charges of illegal possession of narcotics and violation of a protective order.

McMillian’s case is similar to that of a Florida man who contacted a 911 dispatcher to report that someone had broken into his car to steal $50 and a quarter ounce stash of cocaine from the center console.

(FreshAsFrankie) T-Boz of TLC has been actively challenging details provided by authorities on the death of a cousin of hers who was gunned down by a police officer following an alleged robbery in Chicago last week.

In a call for justice, the 47-year-old singer has taken to Twitter and Instagram over the past several days to argue the circumstances of the Eddie Russell Jr., 25, killing. The Chicago Police Department reports that it was able to identify Russell, Jr. as the suspect in the stick up of a First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust at 3037 N. Sterling Ave.on September 20. According to the report, they were able to track Russell, Jr. to his home in the 2800 block of West Sheffield Drive shortly after the 12:49 p.m. incident, and spent more than an hour trying to get him to turn himself in. Finally at 3:46 p.m. When he finally reared up, Russell Jr. allegedly approached the officers with a gun in hand. He was shot 18 times.

According to T-Boz, there are several mistruths in the case. For one, she disputes that her cousin was holding a gun, and even went so far as to post a surveillance photo of him at the bank with his hand extended. While it is clear that there is something black in Russell Jr.’s hand, T-Boz charged that it clearly wasn’t a firearm. Upon his capture, the police confirmed that it appeared to be the very gun used during the robbery. She also suspects that the officers knew he was mentally ill and is accusing them of deceiving her aunt and setting Russell up by telling the woman that they were going to get her son the help he needs before she convinced him to come out. T-Boz also lashed out about the officers not wearing body cameras and allegedly leaving his body at the scene for more than eight hours.

Rob Sues Blac Chyna, Claims She Choked Him with iPhone Cord

Rob Sues Blac Chyna, Claims She Choked Him with iPhone Cord
(FreshAsFrankie) Rob Kardashian has filed a lawsuit against Blac Chyna in which he claims she assaulted him and destroyed his property.

According to court documents first obtained by The Blast, Chyna went on a violent rampage last December after consuming “a significant amount of drugs and alcohol.”

In the lawsuit, he claims “Chyna lunged towards Rob with an iPhone charging cable and attempted to strangle Rob with the cord around his neck.” After breaking free, he says the mother of his child chased after him and “repeatedly struck him in the head and face.”

The suit says Chyna then began to trash the house – which he was renting from his sister Kylie Jenner – breaking down a door, damaging a television and the walls, and even smashing a Christmas gingerbread house.

After attempting to escape in his Bentley, Rob says in the suit that “Chyna threw a nearby chair at Rob’s car causing damage to the vehicle and also used a metal rod to injure Rob.”

Kylie Jenner is also a plaintiff in the lawsuit, claiming Blac Chyna caused over $100,000 in damage to her house.

In the suit, Blac Chyna is described as a stripper who “over the years has created a reputation as a money-hungry, shameless, pseudo-celebrity,” known for her “hard-partying and erratic behavior” who has “little, if any, accomplishments in the entertainment industry.”

Further, the suit claims Chyna’s relationship with Rob was “nothing short of an outright fraud to shake down the Kardashian family without any concern about the consequences.”

Kardashian and Jenner are suing for assault, battery, and vandalism and are asking for unspecified damages.

Mystikal’s Arraignment Postponed After He Showed Up to Court Without Lawyer

Mystikal's Arraignment Postponed After He Showed Up to Court Without Lawyer
(FreshAsFrankie) Previously, news broke that Mystikal was arrested for an alleged rape and kidnapping that took place in Shreveport, Louisiana at Sam’s Town Casino and Hotel.

According to reports, the incident took place October 22, 2016, and the rapper had accomplices in the alleged rape and kidnapping. One man named Averweone Holman, aka “Lil Hood,” was arrested, as well as a woman named Tenichia Wafford. The woman was charged in the case with obstructing justice. She allegedly called the victim in the case and tried to get her to drop her complaint against Mystikal and Lil Hood. Bail for Wafford was set at $500,000. Both men are facing charges of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping. The bail for each of them was set at $3 million. A grand jury in Caddo Parish District court order indictments against three suspects in the case.

Since then, news surfaced saying Mystikal’s arraignment has been delayed because he currently has no lawyer. Initially, Mystikal secured lawyer Kenneth Beck, who was able to file motions for the rapper earlier in the beginning of the case. Now, Judge Ramona Emanuel granted the rapper more time to find a lawyer for his case. Because of that, his next court date will be on November 28, 2017.

According to the Shreveport Times, court documents in the case have been sealed.

Mugshot of Yo Gotti Associate Arrested in Young Dolph Shooting

(FreshAsFrankie) LAPD has released the mugshot of Corey McClendon.

Corey McClendon, a Memphis native and alleged associate of Yo Gotti, was arrested in the shooting of Young Dolph outside of the Loews Hollywood Hotel on Tuesday (September 26).

In 2010, McClendon was one of nine people arrested after Yo Gotti was in an argument with rapper OG Boo Dirty outside of Level II nightclub in Memphis. All charges were later dropped in the incident due to lack of witnesses. OG Boo Dirty spoke on the situation during an interview.

According to USA Today, McClendon was booked on attempted murder charges, although it’s not yet known whether he was the person who shot Young Dolph following an argument outside of the hotel. Two other men were reportedly involved in the situation with the Memphis rapper, who was shot three times before the men fled in a gold Escalade that was later found abandoned.

Young Dolph was moved from critical to stable condition following a surgery on Tuesday, and he’s expected to recover following the violent ordeal. This is the second time this year Dolph was involved in a shooting.

Back in May, Dolph’s SUV was riddled with bullet holes, but he was left unharmed due to the vehicle being bulletproof. Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta was one of three people arrested in connection to the shootout.

Stay tuned for more details on the situation.
