Derrick Rose May Walk Away From $80M Shoe Deal

(FreshAsFrankie) Recently, Derrick Rose took an indefinite leave-of-absence from the Cleveland Cavaliers. According to reports, the point guard was hit with an ankle injury that he caught on November 7, which put him on the sidelines since then. Because of that, Rose is reportedly considering his future in the NBA, as well as an early retirement.

Now, the 29-year-old who is on a one-year contract with the Cavs may walk away from $80 million on his Adidas deal he signed in 2012.

ESPN reported that Adidas is “protected” from Rose’s current situation. The contract between Rose and Adidas states that the company is responsible for making and marketing a new Derrick Rose signature shoe every year he plays. However, if Rose decides to retire as reports have stated, then the remaining seven years of the deal are not required to pay out.

The extension on the deal Rose and Adidas made was for $185 million over 13 years.

Al Sharpton Set to Visit Meek Mill in Prison

Al Sharpton Set to Visit Meek Mill in Prison
(FreshAsFrankie) Meek Mill should be expecting a visit from Rev. Al Sharpton on Monday, November 28, according to the New York Daily News. “I think this is about an injustice that is representative of many young men of color that face an abuse of a probation or parole system,” Sharpton stated during a gathering at the headquarters of his National Action Network (NAN) in Harlem. Sharpton is meeting with Meek as part of a larger effort to see the Philly rapper’s case receive a new hearing.

Sharpton said further:

I think what’s happening with Meek Mill is something that the National Action Network has always fought, and I hope that me going there is going to raise the pressure on the issue and help begin a drive-by us in supporting others and demanding a new hearing for him and a new judge.

Al Sharpton shares the sentiment with many others that believe Meek Mill represents a larger systemic issue and according to Rev. Sharpton, “he can be an example of how we correct that.”

Lil Mo and Her Husband Appear on ‘Couples Court’ Behind Him Cheating

Lil Mo and Her Husband Appear on 'Couples Court' Behind Him Cheating
(FreshAsFrankie) Lil Mo recently appeared on Couples Court to confront her husband Karl Dargan about apparent infidelity. According to Lil Mo, her son Justin tipped her off to some incriminating evidence when he searched Dargan’s name on Google. Mo said of her husband, “Every year it happens at the same time, […] And then people always slide me a message — this one lady said, somebody was just like, ‘Hey. Pay me this amount to make it go away.” Lil Mo stated that she wasn’t about the extortion and said the women need to find a better hustle.

Karl Dargan attempted to defend his case saying that he has been faithful as of late despite cases of infidelity in the past. Dargan told the courtroom:

I used to be out here. I used to be out here dealing with multiple women at times, you know, five/six women at one time. Basically, I was a THOT. I had no intentions of getting married, I had no intentions on ever being with one woman but I was trying to work on it and I told her, listen, I’m out here, […] It’s not an overnight process but I’ll try the best I can. I slipped up and got caught up.

Mase Says He’s Not Cool w/ Cam’ron; Shook Hand Out of Respect

Mase Drops "The Oracle" Diss Aimed at Cam'ron

(FreshAsFrankie) Mase made it clear that he is still not cool with Cam’ron, via an Instagram post.

The post featured a screenshot of their exchange where they both said they are still brothers. Mase’s caption for the post completely went against that idea, with the rapper saying “We’re not cool. I shook his hand ‘cause I won. That’s it. As a man that’s what you do after you win unanimously. TheOracle #mase @RSVPMase.”

So after the exchange of diss tracks and the few memes tossed around, it seems that Cam’ron and Mase were simply having a brotherly spat. After Cam dropped his response record, “Dinner Time,” to Mase’s “The Oracle,” to which many fans felt was tepid at best, the two Harlemites apparently chalked the entire thing up as good fun. Mase commented on a post telling Cam:

YOU STILL MY BROTHER IF YOU WOULD TO BE… This was just for bragging rights #mase #theoracle

Killa Cam followed up by responding:

yea this was fun.. u still my bro too. Glad I get to brag lol. So when u leaving Harlem again? 2mr?

It seems as though this was just one of the classic cases of rappers using their platforms to address some underlying issues as well as testing their skills against one another. Everyone will have to wait and see if this is entirely over.

Black Friday Brawl Breaks Out In Missouri Mall

Black Friday Brawl Breaks Out In Missouri Mall
(FreshAsFrankie) Retail locations around the country have taken quite a few steps to mitigate the Black Friday chaos that has plagued shopping centers in years past, including implementing ticket systems and having people queue in organized lines before entering the store. It seems inevitable, however, that altercations will break out between customers as folks scramble to grab the last hot deals.

One such incident occurred outside a Missouri mall when a teen was shot in the parking lot of a center in the town of Columbia late Thursday night, though it appears the shooting was not over merchandise.

According to police, two men were sitting inside a car when one of them accidentally discharged his gun while trying to holster the weapon. The two men reportedly know each other, reports local news outlet KMIZ.

The unidentified 19-year-old received “life-threatening injuries” during the shooting outside of the Columbia Mall, which was open until midnight on Thanksgiving.

Police have yet to make any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Columbia wasn’t the only town to see Black Friday violence; a shopping center in Alabama was shut down early after a brawl erupted at the Riverchase Galleria outside Birmingham.

A video posted on Facebook appears to show a cop restraining one woman on the floor while another officer struggles to subdue a second woman.

(FreshAsFrankie) Mase dropped a diss record at former friend and Harlemite Cam’ron. The two have had an embattled relationship for two decades, as Mase opens up the track, “Imagine 20 years with a bitter b**ch and same the drama/ Dame told you do this sh*t and you don’t see Dame karma?/ K9 on your ass with no distraction/ P***y ni**a wearin’ pink I guess he think he matchin’/ I’ma paint the picture and let the hittas make the caption/ F**k bars I’m tell ni**a what really happened.”

He then goes at Cam for nearly four minutes over JAY-Z‘s Blueprint 2 bringing up some scandalous claims, from shady business dealings, and odd sexual claims, and restating himself as the originator of the Dipset honcho’s swag.

Chris Tucker Opted out of ‘Next Friday’ Because Ice Cube Didn’t Pay for ‘Friday’

Chris Tucker Opted out of 'Next Friday' Because Ice Cube Didn't Pay for 'Friday'
(FreshAsFrankie) For years, Ice Cube has been teasing another installment in his ‘Friday’ series, with rumors of the next movie including all the original cast members including Chris Tucker. Despite the reports, when asked about the film, Cube would always note that he could not get Tucker on-board for the project.

Now, it seems that Tucker has revealed his reasoning behind staying away from the project during a standup bit he recently performed. While on-stage, Tucker said he passed on “Next Friday” because Ice Cube failed to pay him for the first one. The comedian joked “Cube got mad cuz I didn’t wanna do part two. I told I ain’t doing it; I said no. He got mad. I told ‘You ain’t pay me for the first one, s**t.’ He gon’ give me some CDs and some weed. Hell Nah. You better give me some money!”

He went on to say that they made ‘Friday’ in 20 days and that he was just happy not to be touring, which made him do the movie.
