(FreshAsFrankie) Comey will be speaking at their 2017 convocation in September, which will kick off the school year. Along with speaking at the convocation, Comey was appointed the 2017-2018 Gwendolyn S. and Colbert King Endowed Chair in Public Policy for the University, which means he will be leading and conducting “five lectures and feature speakers that will touch on several topics.” According to Howard University, the series is “designed to foster fruitful discussion and spur meaningful interaction.”
For the position, Comey would be paid $100,000 for his work. However, he has made it clear that he would be donating the entire amount he would be compensated to a Howard scholarship fund. Comey issued a statement on being the King Chair for 2017 going into 2018, saying, “I am honored to hold the King Chair this school year. Howard has a longstanding history of being a vibrant academic community and the perfect place to have rich dialogue on many of the most pressing issues we face today. I look forward to contributing to this remarkable institution and engaging students and faculty alike.”
(FreshAsFrankie) Two white high schoolers found themselves in a precarious situation when they had lunch at Howard University, one of the most revered HBCU‘s, with MAGA (Make America Great Again) hats on. One of the girls, Allie Vandee, took to Twitter to talk about her experience and claims of being harassed while in the university’s dining hall. According to Vandee, when she and her friend Sarah entered the dining hall they encountered one man who yelled “F*ck y’all” while another man supposedly stole Sarah’s cap before having it returned.
Vandee claims that she was unaware of being on an HBCU campus but her tweets with “#noshame” show a level of insensitivity and audaciousness during this current racial climate.

(FreshAsFrankie) Ohio Judge Shot After Being Ambushed Outside of Courthouse, Returns Fire
According to reports, an Ohio judge was shot outside of the Jefferson County courthouse in Steubenville on Monday morning. Judge Joseph Bruzzese was allegedly heading to work when he was approached by suspects outside the courthouse who fired shots at him.
Steubenville City Manager James Mavromatis laid out the scenario, saying, “We’re starting to put this whole picture together, but basically what you have is the judge is going to work, these subjects were waiting for them. He comes up, shoots at the judge. The judge returns fire. We also have a probation officer that was behind the judge. He returns fire as he is shot at. The subject is deceased that he shot at. This probation officer has done his job. He reacted to the threat, trying to save the judge and any other bystander that may have been in the area.”
Because of the gunfire exchange, the courthouse was shut down for the rest of the day. Mavromatis noted that Judge Bruzzese was immediately taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter. Since then, Bruzzese has been talking and is in currently in stable condition.
(FreshAsFrankie) DMX will be allowed to travel to Atlanta for a big show, if he follows the judge’s order.
The judge is giving DMX a break in his house arrest, so the rapper can perform at a highly anticipated show.
DMX was sentenced to full house arrest, after violating the terms of his bail conditions relating to 14 charges that he deliberately evaded millions of dollars worth of income tax.
DMX suffered a temporary setback last week, when the judge banned the rapper from traveling, even for work.
The judge in the case reversed the earlier decision and ruled that the dog can head to Atlanta from August 21st–24th, under one condition.
According to the judge, DMX must travel with a sober coach “at all times.”
DMX must be accompanied by his sober coach 24 hours a day.
And if DMX wants to hit Atlanta, DMX will also have to foot the bill for the sober coach.
