(FreshAsFrankie) After two weeks of inactivity on social media, Isaiah Thomas has broken his silence about the trade that sent him from being a franchise hopeful in Boston to Cleveland’s latest piece to a potential fourth Lebron title. Thomas has virtually disappeared as pundits and insiders chatted away on the status of the mid-August trade and the eighth-year point guard’s questionable health. But on Tuesday, September 5, Thomas returned to the internet with a video that shows the Cleveland faithful just what the new guy in town has been up to while the doubters doubted, and Kyrie Irving received the praise.
“They say every man is defined by his reaction to any given situation. Well, who would you want to define you? Someone else or yourself? Whatever you do, give your heart to it, and stay strong,” Thomas wrote, citing lyrics from Nipsey Hussle’s ‘I Do This’ in the caption of the clip. He opens up on a personal note, by discussing how he found out he got traded. Thomas is seen rehabbing as he sweats it out in the weight room. By the video’s ending, he is taking shots in his new Cavs practice uniform.
Thomas has a month and a half to blend in with Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose, and Jeff Green, and perhaps even a last minute Dwyane Wade signing. Considering his recent success with the Celtics, he’d be looking to lead the back court pack. But the big question is whether he and Boston know something about his hip that the rest of the world doesn’t and whether he’ll have the chemistry with James that Irving did, despite their tiffs. Thomas seems to believe so, and he is finally beginning to own the part.
