Georgia authorities are pushing to incarcerate rapper Lil Dirk for the rest of his natural life. They claim to have video evidence of Lil Durk carrying out a shooting in Atlanta, that they are calling an “attempted murder.”
The shooting occurred in on Feb. 5th, outside of famed restaurant The Varsity. Police say that a 23-year-old man named Alexander Weatherspoon was shot in the thigh.
And police say that the shooter was Chicago rapper Lil Durk—real name Durk Derrick Banks. Durk turned himself in several weeks ago in connection with the shooting, but the 26-year-old rapper denied any involvement.
“I have nothing to hide,” Durk told the media outside of the courtroom. “I have nothing to run from.”
Today there was a probable cause hearing, in a Georgia courtroom. An Atlanta detective claimed to be in possession of surveillance footage which purportedly shows Durk driving a car and shooting a man outside The Varsity.
The detective also says that Durk robbed Weatherspoon of a gold chain and $30,000 during the incident.
After hearing the shocking testimony, the judge found probable cause against the artist and his co-defendant after hearing witness testimony.
Durk now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, criminal intent to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
