Woman Arrested for Ringing Up $1,800 in Electronics for $3.70 at Walmart
(FreshAsFrankie) A woman was released on $3,000 bond on Tuesday (Nov. 7) after she was arrested for ringing up $1,800 worth of electronics in a Walmart self-checkout for only $3.70.

Cheyenne Amber West of Fort Pierce, Florida, was caught by a loss prevention officer who saw her and her mother picking up various items from the electronics section including an HP computer and video game controllers. The waitress has been charged with felony grand theft and misdemeanor shoplifting.

Store surveillance showed West covering the barcodes on the electronics with stickers from items from the clearance section before ringing herself up at self-checkout. West was apprehended after she wheeled her cart of things outside the door.

Her mother was not arrested, as she didn’t walk with any items. She even went as far to say, “I know what my daughter was doing, but I never walked out with anything, and she is just trying to get gifts for her son.”

In an affidavit to a Florida deputy, West states, “I am just trying to get gifts for my son that I cannot afford. The computer is for my husband. Since he just got me a Coach purse, I figured he deserved something nice as well.”
