(FreshAsFrankie) According to the Chicago Tribune, 33 people have been wounded, with six of them dying over the weekend in the Windy City. Police noted that the shootings happened in 13 hours, starting on Saturday and going into Sunday morning.
In one instance the Tribune pointed out, one man was killed while six others were wounded from gunfire that broke out around 2:30 A.M. on Sunday. All of the people hurt were standing in the parking lot of a banquet hall that serves as a nightclub when an unidentified man in a black SUV fired off shots at the group of people. The man drove off right after his attack. A 40-year-old man on the scene was hit by the SUV of the shooter, resulting in him having to be taken to the hospital for a broken ankle.
The violence in Chicago keeps drawing attention nationwide, with Donald Trump chiming in and offering “solutions” the city’s homicide rate. In 2016, Chicago had 760 homicides, which is more than L.A. and New York combined according to NY Daily News.
